Audition Dates: August 17-20, 2025
Callback Date: Thursday, August 21 - 6:00pm
To audition:
Read the show information above to understand the plot and characters (There's a movie version from 1954 out there to watch.)
Choose a character you might be interested in playing. When you come to audition, I'll ask which main character you are most interested in playing and have you read for that one first. You'll also read for a few others to see your range, but it gives us an idea of what you might enjoy. You should also prepare a short monologue - see the resources tab if you need some help finding one. This can be a short snippet from a play's character that you like as well.
Complete the audition form to get us your information. This is a google form that helps us get an idea of your other activities, sizes for possible costumes, voice part, etc. (Use the link earlier in #3 to access it.)
Schedule a time to audition on our Sign-up Genius page.
When you come in to audition, be sure to remember this is one way to use your talents!
Pray for support and that you may do well (and courage, too, if you are nervous.) Be sure to really practice - coming in “cold” to an audition is never a good idea!
Please note that in callbacks you may be called back multiple roles or a role you did not anticipate being called back for. For callbacks, you will need to prepare for the specific role you are called back for. Callback packets will be posted after auditions.
Scottish English Dialect
The majority of Brigadoon's characters have a Scottish accent. Our script spellings reflect this accent, but it might be helpful to take a look at a few tips for speaking with a Scottish accent. I've included a link below to help you practice:

Audition Songs
You will sing a part of one of the songs from Brigadoon for your audition. (NOTE: In the past I've had you prepare a song of your own as well - we will NOT be doing that this time.) I've included a link for sheet music as well as an electronic accompaniment to practice:
Tommy - Heather on the Hill - Accompaniment (Baritone/Tenor 2)
Fiona - Waiting for My Dearie - Accompaniment (Soprano)
Charlie - Bonnie Jean - Accompaniment (Tenor)
Meg - MacConnachy Square Excerpt - Accompaniment (Alto)
Townfolk - MacConnachy Square - Accompaniment (Follow Melody in 1st cut)
BRIGADOON CALLBACKS
Thanks to everyone for auditioning. I plan to have a final cast list out to you by Monday, and I already have some of you penciled in to spots, but we would like to see some of you for callbacks tomorrow night - Thursday, August 21 - starting at 6 PM. (We should be done by about 8 PM.).
For the callbacks, look at the material above for those characters. I'll be throwing some other cold reads for characters to play off each other as well, but look at the songs for the character for which you are listed if you haven't. See Mr. M. if you have any questions on what to do.
